Welcome To Brevards Premiere Private Airport
Always be ready to go around if needed! Because of the terrain surrounding the airport, we experience drastically different wind patterns from the local Asheville Regional Airport (KAVL). Be ready to encounter low-level wind shear if Asheville is reporting 15 knots or greater! If this is your first time landing here at 3NR3, we strongly encourage you to fly 500 feet above the active traffic pattern to become familiar with our surrounding terrain.

You may be tempted to turn a very tight base-to-final leg if you are inbound for runway 09, for your safety, we suggest at least a 1-mile final approach to get lined up with the runway.

Transylvania Community Airport received no capital or operating support from public funds. For your information, a number of locals (including several of the Asheville Airport controllers) also refer to the facility as the Penrose airport.

We have 100LL AvGas on-site with a credit-card-enabled terminal. The current fuel price is $4.59 per gallon.
